The Youth Group

Being part of a Youth Group (YG) can be one of the greatest blessings a child can have. Throughout Elementary school our children are learning how to interact with the world, and it is in Middle and High School that they begin to face the battle of self-identity.

In today’s climate, YG’s are of vital importance. Mt. Zion places a high value on our teens because they are not only the leaders of tomorrow–they are the church of today! Our children are being influenced every day by the powers of the world, and unless we are conducting Bible studies with our kids and finding ways to include Jesus as a part of our family life, they are rarely thinking of Jesus.

A YG is just one of many ways to ensure that our kids are being raised in a Christian environment. Do not misunderstand, being involved in the YG will not prevent our children from straying or making mistakes. The point of it is to foster an environment of communal growth which can be found in Scripture. In other words, the YG strives to create a community of young people who are all working together to live the Christian life as seen in the Scriptures.

This is the atmosphere we are trying to develop in our YG, and to be honest, these are goals we should be incorporating into the general church. We should be striving to create a community of people who are all working together to live the Christian life.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” – Romans 12:2
